About Us
Mission Statement and Philosophy

The mission of The Children of Israel Foundation Inc. is to relieve suffering and to bless the lives of those who live within the Holy Land. We believe that the Children of Israel are God’s covenant people and that He will gather them in from their long exile and fulfill all of His promises to them. We believe that God loves all of His children and we desire to bless all who live in The Holy Land, regardless of race, religion, color, or creed.

Our goal is to bring relief to emotional, physical, and spiritual suffering and to ensure a brighter future for those whom we love and serve. We agree that “Whoever saves one life, it is as though he saved the entire world.”

We invite you to join with us in this great work and to give of your time, your treasure, your prayers, and your faith. May we press forward together with “healing in our wings” to “lift up the hands that hang down and strengthen the feeble knees.”

“Shall we not go on in so great a cause?”

Dr. Kimball Taylor, the founder of the Children of Israel Foundation Inc., first went to Israel in 1987. He immediately felt a kinship and love for the people and the land of Israel, and began to study the subject in earnest soon after. Desiring to know more, he applied for and was accepted to a Master’s Degree program in Jewish Studies at Chicago’s prestigious Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies in 1995. His study led him to want to do something meaningful for the Jewish people, and upon the advice of Rabbi Byron Sherwin, Vice President of Spertus, he decided to form an organization with the goal of assisting needy Jews throughout the world.

The Children of Israel Foundation Inc. soon became a reality and was officially incorporated in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 6, 1998. Rabbi Sherwin was instrumental in introducing Dr. Taylor to Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, founder and director of The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, a Chicago-based organization with many goals similar to what Dr. Taylor envisioned.

On a trip to Israel in 1999, Rabbi Eckstein introduced Dr. Taylor to Mr. Zvi Raviv, Advisor to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Prime Minister of Israel. This has led to a wonderful association with the City of Jerusalem and a love affair with the City and its people. The Foundation presently supports several projects within the City.
